Comments from the winemaker
Marlene Rossman’s Review:

“A beautiful, beefy blend of Merlot, Syrah and Cabernet Franc – just the thing to pair with beef!

The Syrah adds smoke, game and spice, the Cab Franc adds delicious verdant aromas and the Merlot is smooth, silky and elegant. Grill a rib steak, open a bottle and be ‘intrigued!’”

Production Notes from founder, Bob Delf:

“Our Intrigue is a blend of 50 percent merlot, 32 percent syrah and 18 percent cabernet franc. We use very good quality vineyards, so there are no “bad years”. In 2008 we had cool spring temperatures with some rain that led to 2-weeks-later-than-normal bud break. The summer was average to slightly below average in terms of temperatures, resulting in veraison occurring one week late. Harvest was 10-14 days later than normal, but summer and early fall were dry, allowing for sugar and phenolic ripening with no loss of acid. Fruit flavors are less ripe, acid levels are slightly higher than normal. Overall, 2008 was a very good vintage across the board for most varieties. We bottled about 500 cases of this wine.”
